Sterilisation

Sterilisation Keeps Various Health Problems At Bay!

We, at Berrigan Vet Clinic, perform sterilisation (desexing or neutering) for pets. Sterilisation is recommended for many pet breeds to ensure good health and wellness. It helps prevent a range of problems that may occur later in your pet’s life.

We recommend that dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, and rats be routinely desexed to prevent a wide range of issues. The recommended age for sterilisation may vary depending on the species but can be performed as early as three months in some cases.

Types of Sterilisations

Various types of sterilisation methods are available, like removing the reproductive tract, implants or hormonal injections. The most common one is as follows: –

to remove a part of the reproductive tract of the pet, generally known as

  • Castration: It is used when sterilising a male animal and involves the removal of testicles.
  • Spay: This method is used for sterilising and involves the removal of the uterus and ovaries.

The above-listed sterilising methods are a one-day procedure where your beloved pet is dropped at our vet clinic in the morning, goes through the treatment/surgery during the day and departure home that afternoon or evening.
